NEW LOWER-COST BLAST DESIGN SOFTWARE UTILIZES WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY FOR PRINTING
CENTENNIAL, Colo., January 27, 2004 - Laser Technology, Inc., the leading manufacturer of pulse-laser measuring instruments and systems is announcing the release of Face Profiler version 3.0, a laser-based profiling system for blasting utilizing Bluetooth® wireless technology for printing purposes. The new package created also costs significantly less than its predecessor and offers a unique new feature that automatically removes slough material from the bottom of the rock face.
The Face Profiler software displays a real-time 2-D profile after each shot from the laser is taken and calculates all the necessary information needed to properly prepare for a blast. Tabular reports and burden plots can be viewed at anytime and job parameters can be easily manipulated without having to re-shoot the profile. The new feature of automatically removing slough material from the bottom of the face becomes quite useful when there is debris rock (muck pile) prohibiting a line of sight to the actual toe. Automatically calculating this information ultimately provides a more accurate measurement of the entire face.
Included in the package is a ReconTM handheld computer manufactured by Tripod Data Systems (TDS). Bluetooth® wireless technology has been added to the TDS ReconTM using low-power radio signals with a range of 30 feet. An optional battery-operable Bluetooth® printer will be available for printing a hard copy of the profile information right on location. The software runs on a Windows® CE.Net operating system and offers touch screen activation and a full color display. Laser Technology's Impulse 200 laser-rangefinder is used to make the measurements; which performs in -22 to +140 degrees Fahrenheit and has a typical accuracy within 3 to 5 cm. An adjustable range can be set to ensure accurate readings through rain, snow, fog or even dust.
Laser Technology, Inc. manufactures and markets laser-based speed and distance measuring instruments, which utilize proprietary technology developed by the Company. Its products are sold worldwide and are used in a wide variety of applications, including traffic speed enforcement, natural resource management, GIS mapping, surveying, sporting/recreational activities, and industrial process control. The Company's headquarters and primary manufacturing facilities are located in Centennial, Colorado.
