Laser Technology TruCAM® Video Laser Ruled Scientifically Reliable and Accurate

by padkins 30. March 2011 13:50

Officer Robert Barrett of the Columbus, Ohio, Division of Police decided to test a new speed enforcement LIDAR, called TruCAM, which captures speeders on digital video. Officer Barrett was convinced that the device was a surefire way to bring speeding cases to court and make them stick. Armed with his own testing and evaluation, with the assistance of the Columbus, Ohio, City Attorney’s office, and a local expert witness, Officer Barrett supplied a case to the court system in his jurisdiction to get the court's approval of the device for use by officers within the county.  After hearing and viewing the evidence provided by LTI's 20-20 TruCAM, Judge Anne Taylor of the Franklin County, Ohio, Municipal Court ruled this new speed enforcement tool is scientifically reliable and accurate, and that the TruCAM can be used by law enforcement officers to measure vehicle speed within Franklin County. The judge's ruling is the first of its kind in the USA for the TruCAM. "The video from the TruCAM gives you one more piece of evidence that (as a traffic enforcement officer) you clocked the right car for speeding,” Officer Barrett said. "There's really no defense to it."

by admin 18. February 2011 07:55

Can you read the bumper stickers on the car in front of you? If so, you're probably following too closely. Fox News KTRV-TV in Boise, Idaho reports on how the Nampa Police department are keeping an eye out for "tailgaters" with the new camera device that they are using - the Laser Technology TruCAM laser rangefinder with DBC technology. With this device, police can know the distance between two cars and their speeds. Nampa PD has seen an increase in accidents near the Garrity interchange and have determined that most of those crashes were caused by drivers who were following too closely.

Laser Technology UltraLyte Speed Guns Used by Lakewood Police to Enforce Speed Limit

by admin 22. January 2011 14:21

Fox 31 KDVR-TV, Denver, Colorado Reports on Notorious Speeding Area -

Lakewood police are trying to find new ways to enforce the law inside an area where it is nearly impossible ton enforce the speed limit. A 2 mile stretch of 6th Avenue in Lakewood has earned its own nickname - "the shoots" - which is protected by high sound barrier walls making it nearly impossible to catch the speeders. It's an area where there is no safe place for officers to pull over speeding drivers or for police to stand with a radar gun. In this report it shows how the police have started using a highpowered long distance laser speed gun developed by Laser Technology to help step up enforcement in this area. The "shoots" is one of the busiest stretches in the metro area and also ranked in 2009 as one of the top 10 places for accidents.
