Distracted Driving Considered a Culprit as Traffic Deaths Increase in First Half of 2016

Traffic fatalities jumped up by 10.4% in the first six months of 2016. A sobering fact that was released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in October. If this trend continues, then this will mean that 2016 will be the highest year on record since 1966 when there were 35,000 traffic fatalities total for the year.

U.S. Highways are becoming more dangerous to drive on and this trend has been rising since late 2014 when the economy started to improve. With the recovery of the economy, more and more people are now driving and going places. Drivers distracted by smartphones and texting is a huge contributor to these alarming increases in fatalities. Trinidad and Tobago Crack Down on Speeders with the LTI TruCAM

The LTI 20/20 TruCAM video laser speed device has been the talk of the town on the island of Trinidad and Tobago. Within the past few weeks, officials have purchased numerous TruCAMs from LTI's authorized dealer L & W Engineering, in hopes of decreasing reckless driving and traffic accidents on their highways.

Approval was granted on April 29th, 2016 by the Honorable Mr. Fitzgerald Hinds, the Minister of Works and Transport, for the official use of a video laser speed device designed to capture and record motorists’ speed. According to Mr. Hinds, 55% of fatalities on Trinidad and Tobago's roadways are a result of speeding. The goal of the TruCAM implementation aims to decrease this number by keeping drivers within the 80 KPH speed limits on highways and 50 KPH on the island's main roads. More...

Castle Rock PD Cracks Down on Distracted Drivers and Speeders

The Ultimate Distracted Driving and Speed Enforcement Laser - LTI's TruCAM

The Castle Rock Police Department has joined in the crack down on speeders, distracted drivers and other violators with other law enforcement agencies in the Denver Metro area. A new speed enforcement tool, called the TruCAM, has been added to their inventory that helps officers see what is happening behind the wheel of violator's car.

LTI's TruCAM is an all-in-one handheld laser-based video and photo camera. The TruCAM allows officers to capture the violations on camera and replay the violations right there on the spot.

Pennsylvania PD Demos LTI 20/20 TruCAM in Hopes of Reducing Following Too Closely (Tailgating) Incidences.

For 30 days, state police in Pennsylvania are testing LTI's LIDAR technology, the LTI 20/20 TruCAM, to enforce Aggressive Driving laws, specifically PA MVC 3310 also referred to as Following Too Closely or tailgating. Lt. Mark Green from East Pennsboro Township Police Department in PA announced that they would begin testing out the TruCAM all-in-one video laser with Distance Between Cars (DBC) technology at a press event in Harrisburg on July, 31 2015. Fox 43 Harrisburg, ABC 27 Harrisburg, CBS Harrisburg, and WGAL Harrisburg were some local news stations that attended the press event and interviewed Lt. Green and LTI about the LIDAR technology.
