Castle Rock PD Cracks Down on Distracted Drivers and Speeders

The Ultimate Distracted Driving and Speed Enforcement Laser - LTI's TruCAM

The Castle Rock Police Department has joined in the crack down on speeders, distracted drivers and other violators with other law enforcement agencies in the Denver Metro area. A new speed enforcement tool, called the TruCAM, has been added to their inventory that helps officers see what is happening behind the wheel of violator's car.

LTI's TruCAM is an all-in-one handheld laser-based video and photo camera. The TruCAM allows officers to capture the violations on camera and replay the violations right there on the spot.

Increase in Traffic Safety Awareness Means America's Roadways are Safer than Ever

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently reported that there was a decline in traffic fatalities in 2013. Part of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), the NHTSA annually releases data detailing many different traffic statistics, from deaths on roadways to drunken driving incidents, resulting in death. The 2013 Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) data tracks traffic crashes within the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The NHTSA states that to be included in the data, a crash must include a motor vehicle driving on a public roadway and one or more deaths must occur within 30 days as a result of a crash. More...

Laser Technology with the advent of TruCam, has since 2009, joined with NHTSA and the law enforcement community to warn drivers about the dangers of distracted driving. I'm reasonably sure most of us have seen a car driving erratically; weaving side to side, slowing and speeding up, completely sure it’s a drunk driver. When you’re finally able to pass you look over to discover the driver is bobbing their head up and down while texting! This is highly disturbing. More...

Communication Campaigns Against Speeding and Distracted Driving

We certainly know that speeding and distracted driving are dangers to the roadway. Both activities reduce reaction times and contribute to too many accidents each year. Laser Technology has the technology to identify speeders and distracted driving. For example, LTI 's 20-20 TruCAM collects and stores a complete chain of video evidence for speeding and tailgating, along with a high-resolution image that identifies vehicle make, model and license plate number and facial characteristics of the driver -- a look at whether the driver is looking down or doing some other activity that would constitute distracted driving.
