It was a sunny and prosperous day on the streets of Ukraine, until tragedy struck on July 20th, 2018. The day started out like any other, until speed and traffic accidents flooded the country. By the end of the day, a new term was coined for the extensive amount of traffic-related fatalities: Black Friday.

On July 20, around 5:00 AM near the village of Krivoye, a Lake Nikolaevskaya region, a Volkswagen Minibus containing passengers crashed into a truck. 5 died and 12 with severe injuries.

At 11:00 AM at the entrance to the village of Pribugskoe near Khmelnitsky, a head-on collision between an IVECO truck and VW Golf resulted in 3 deaths and 1 severe injury. More...

Going beyond the scope of his job Austin PD Officer, Jason Borne, helped make a difference in not one, not two, but three lives. Receiving notification to check out a pedestrian with a stroller walking in the middle of the road, he went to the scene and instead of writing up a violation, offered this woman and child a ride. Taking the time to recognize and find out the reason of her actions, Borne made a lasting difference in their lives by providing the assistance that was really needed.

Leading Cause of Fatal Crashes: Distracted Driving

Put down those cell phones, don't reach for something in the next seat or turn your head to talk to the kids in the backseat; keep your eyes and attention to the road when you're driving. Distracted driving has once again continued to be the leading cause of fatal traffic accidents in the State of New Jersey. According to a State Police analysis of fatal crashes in 2016, that makes six years in a row.

This latest report, which was released January 2018, shows distracted driving was a factor in 217 out of 570 fatal crashes in 2016 in the state. The analysis also showed an increase of 40 traffic fatalities from 2015. While these are statistics for New Jersey, distracted driving is a huge problem all over the world. More...

There has been over $420,000 in speeding tickets issued as of January 4th, since the speed limit has been changed, reports The Caribbean Communications Network Limited - CCNTV of Trinidad and Tobago. These tickets were only issued the first three days of the 2018 year and the police are urging their drivers to slow down and obey the speed limit. Speeding has been a long-time issue on this island's roadways and law enforcement have been working these past few years trying very hard to reduce traffic fatalities. Over 55% of traffic fatalities in 2016 were reported to be as a result of speeding. Distracted Driving A Growing Problem on Colorado Highways

One of the biggest problems happening on Colorado's busy highways today is distracted driving. Officers state that this is a problem that has gotten out of control. In an recent interview with Channel 9 News - KUSA, Special Operations Commander Eric Schmit states, "Almost at any time in Colorado you can look over to the person next to you and see them operating some kind of electronic device". He further states that driving I-25 (one of the busiest corridors in Colorado) probably 6-8 accidents will happen during rush hour traffic.
