Laser Technology UltraLyte Speed Guns Used by Lakewood Police to Enforce Speed Limit

by admin 22. January 2011 14:21

Fox 31 KDVR-TV, Denver, Colorado Reports on Notorious Speeding Area -

Lakewood police are trying to find new ways to enforce the law inside an area where it is nearly impossible ton enforce the speed limit. A 2 mile stretch of 6th Avenue in Lakewood has earned its own nickname - "the shoots" - which is protected by high sound barrier walls making it nearly impossible to catch the speeders. It's an area where there is no safe place for officers to pull over speeding drivers or for police to stand with a radar gun. In this report it shows how the police have started using a highpowered long distance laser speed gun developed by Laser Technology to help step up enforcement in this area. The "shoots" is one of the busiest stretches in the metro area and also ranked in 2009 as one of the top 10 places for accidents.

Watch the video on how the police are trying to enforce laws in a notorious speeding area.

Deputy John Naccarato, Traffic Supervisor for Clackamus County contacted Laser Technology as he found out about the DBC technology that LTI had developed and saw it was being used in Canada and Europe but nowhere in the United States. He became very interested in it due to the amount of accidents that were occurring because of tailgating violations and felt it would be very beneficial if they had it to use in their agency.
