tested by Sarajevo Canton Police Department

Sarajevo is the capital city of the Bosnia and Herzegovina. It belongs to one of ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH).

Surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and residing next to the Milijacka River, it is a beautiful destination to be visited, with a variety of historical tourist destinations, yet a treacherous driving environment for locals.

According to the official statistics, the ratio of road fatalities in BH is around 10,3 against 100.000 citizens; that is three times higher than Western Europe. Almost 380 people die every year on BH roads, while 11.000 get injured. A study showed that every year the Federation of BH faces approximately 250 fatal casualties and over 6.800 injuries in traffic accidents. Between the cost of medical treatment, property damage, administrative work, productivity loss etc., the economy of BH is losing over 400 million EUR a year (more than 5% of its annual GDP).More...

Melanie Basich discusses a new tool crime scene investigators are turning too to help map and document a crime scene quicker and more efficiently in her article "Capturing Crime Scene Images" in Police Magazine. LTI's Teen Driving Awareness Blog Series: Part Three

Mobile devices have been paving a way into our lives since 1973, but it wasn't until the mid-2000's that mobile devices started changing the way we live and interact. Ever since, we've been attached at the hip, slowly forming a societal addiction of constant contact. We never disconnect, even when we are behind the wheel, fostering a false perception of safe driving for future generations.

A recent study showed that drivers use their phones during 88 out of every 100 trips. It takes 27 seconds for a driver to regain full alertness after making any voice-activated command, texting or any act that takes your attention away from driving. More...

Within that 18-month period, new drivers are four times more likely to get into an accident when compared to adults. Teen youth in America are injured and/or killed every day due to inexperienced and distracted drivers and is the leading cause of death for teenagers: totaling eleven teen deaths a day in the United States.
