Laser Technology One Step Ahead with TruCAM

I continue to be amazed at how Laser Technology is always one step ahead by incorporating cutting edge innovations into our 2nd and 3rd generation lasers. LTI has integrated a laser with a digital video camera, making the LTI 20/20 TruCAM the most sophisticated speed enforcement tool available today. It is the only all-in-one handheld laser-based video and photo camera on the market.

Ironically Motor officers understand, perhaps even relish the excitement gleaned from sitting atop a high powered engine framed by tires and chrome. Yet understanding the "need for speed" doesn't get one out of a ticket should you be caught. In a recent news article from The Herald Sun in Queensland, Australia it discusses how motorcycles have avoided the ticket book because they're not required to have front plates. Consequently this allows many motorcyclists to go unpunished. Queensland post processing system does not support video evidence, rear plate and video tracking mode preventing a proper ID. Not only do they avoid being cited, the motorcyclists flaunt their impunity by thumbing their noses at police as they drive by! That said, according to the article "QPS data showed in the 12-months to June 30, TruCAM's detected 13.83 offences per hour of operation, compared with covert vehicles which snapped 7.89 offences an hour and mobile speed camera vans (responsible for pictures in the article) which recorded 4.03 offences an hour."

It's a shame the QPS can't take advantage of all of TruCAM's capabilities to further reduce death and injury on Queensland roadways. I think this is a good opportunity to review all the modes TruCam offers to maximize the traffic officer's time on the streets. Why not equip our traffic officers with the "Swiss Army Knife" of laser speed detection?

TruCAM collects and stores a complete chain of video evidence for both speeding and tailgating, along with a high-resolution image that identifies vehicle make, model and license plate number and facial characteristics of the driver. More than a speed enforcement laser and video camera; the data it produces can feed into any Geographic Information System (GIS) framework.

By tapping into GPS, it automatically generates location-based information every time the TruCAM is used. This provides managers with historical data to determine why, where, when and how to deploy valuable human and capital assets in the future.

For speeds greater than or equal to a preset value, a video motion clip and a high resolution still image are automatically recorded and saved along with attribute data.

This mode combines automated traffic enforcement with video and license plate number imaging. Use as a mobile deployment or a fixed installation system.

For motorcycles or other vehicles only displaying a rear license plate, you can measure the speed and maintain a chain of evidence until the rear license plate is captured.

This mode enables you to enforce speeds in rain, snow and even light fog.

Instantly capture video of violations, such as: blocking traffic, failure to wear a safety belt and misuse of HOV lanes.

This mode can automatically differentiate between cars and commercial trucks and apply the correct preset speed limit.

For "Following Too Closely" violations, this mode can measure the speed, traveling time and distance between two vehicles.

  • Tamper-proof data encryption.
  • Defeats laser jammers.
  • Save and record violations only within your desired speed limit.
  • Multiple operation modes.

As you can clearly see, TruCAM offers the traffic officer the most versatile enforcement tool available today and prepared for any challenge. If you've not had the chance to put one in your hands, don't put it off any longer and contact us to arrange for a practical demonstration.
