Laser Technology Inc. (LTI) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) have fostered a lasting relationship to support the IACP's National Law Enforcement challenge (NLEC). Since 2013, LTI and IACP have hosted informative webinars for law enforcement agencies who are interested in participating in the Challenge and improving their traffic safety programs. In preparation for the 2015 NLEC application deadline, the final webinar in this years' two part series will air on April 9, at 9:30 AM.
The NLEC is a competition between agencies across the country, where participants submit an application that exemplifies their traffic safety efforts throughout the year. The Challenge specifically focuses on speed awareness, impaired driving, occupant protection (seatbelt use) and a category that has significance in the applying agency's community.
Although the NLEC is a friendly competition, the main focus of the program is to improve traffic safety programs by providing a model for enforcement that concentrates on problem areas. The April 9 webinar titled "Improving Traffic Safety Programs through the National Law Enforcement Challenge," will be hosted by NLEC Committee Chair Howard Hall and will feature agencies that have been successful in their traffic safety programs and in the Challenge. Model agencies will cover topics such as why they participate in the NLEC, how they gather information for the application and how it positively impacts their communities.
