The Pros and Cons of Today's Mapping Technology

by TNyland 17. December 2018 13:15

Many traditional crash, crime, and fire scene mapping practices are being replaced by the advancement of new mapping technology in today's marketplace. With the addition of drones, 3D scanners, robotic total stations, and LTI lasers, it's enough to make any investigator's head spin. Searching for the right equipment that best suits you and/or your department’s needs while staying in budget can be a discouraging task.

With an ever-evolving landscape of mapping technology, Laser Technology (LTI) developed a four-part webinar series dedicated to crash, crime, and fire investigators to help educate and share information regarding today's mapping technology. The first webinar "Today's Mapping Technology: The Pros and Cons of It All," was hosted on December 4th, 2018 to over 100 attendees.

LTI asked industry experts and certified trainers, Mike Stogsdill [Collision Reconstruction Services LLC] and Rich Maxwell [Certified Mapping] to dedicate an hour of their time to review up-front and long-term costs, training times, and quality of courtroom presentations for various mapping technologies. The intent was to provide fruitful insights to help steer investigators in the right purchasing direction.

In addition to learning how to enhance their mapping toolkits, attendees were also qualified to receive one continuing education credit through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR). If you are looking to gain a competitive edge in today's mapping technology, check out the rest of the webinar series below.

While you will not be approved for an ACTAR CEU credit, you can still gain valuable information by watching LTI's recording of Today's Mapping Technology: The Pros and Cons of It All webinar!

Check out the upcoming webinars for 2019. Again, all attendees are qualified for 1 CEU credit through ACTAR, per webinar but you must be present during the live presentation to qualify.
