Advanced 3D mapping and diagramming
The most important part of any forensic study is the preservation of the data. This course is designed to take you beyond the collection of the data. Through a range of exercises you will be instructed on the proper techniques to obtain accurate and usable 3D information. Interpretation and use of the points that you measure is explored in depth as we look closely at 3D and its practical application to the forensic field. The use of the laser to accurately measure items such as hillcrest, roadside terrain, vault data information, trajectories, crush damage and much more will be explained and practiced in the class. We invite you to expand you knowledge.

Measure Like You Draw
We instruct two simple concepts. First is: Measure Like You Draw...With this course you will be instructed in the power tools of CadZone software. By know how to draw effectively, you can modify the way you measure. The power tools of the diagramming software will help you become much more efficient in mapping scenes.

Finish what you start
This is the second concept of mapping. We will help you develope good habits that will not only make you more efficient, but will make interpretation of all you data more comprehensive. Ultimately removing much of the confusion associated with detailed 3D mapping.

Troubleshooting
You will be given dozens of tips to help you avoid commons problems with equipment and software. This will save you hours of time and protect from potential data loss.

During the class, you will be presented with the 3D (three dimensional) aspects of measurement and drawing. Since 3D illustrations in the day-to-day analysis of crash and crime scenes are now widely accepted, exercises will be designed to promote 3D thinking. Animation will also be explored and you will have the opportunity to create animations in the classroom.

Inasmuch as demonstrative evidence such as diagrams and presentations must meet certain requirements to be accepted in court, instructors will discuss their courtroom experiences and provide suggestions for presentation methods. You will be given the opportunity to perform the presentation of diagrams in multimedia formats.

Topics will be instructed by lecture, visual demonstration, the use of classroom projects and other assignments. In addition to a discussion about problem areas that are typically experienced and encountered, you will be presented with new ideas and concepts as well as the latest software developments.
