INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRANSFERRING QUICKMAP FILES TO AND FROM A PC ------------------------------------------------------------- *** Connect the HP 48 to your PC COM port with the supplied cable. *** STORING QUICKAMP FILES TO A PC ------------------------------ 1. On the PC, go to Start/Programs/Accessories/Communications/Hyper Terminal, or search your drive for 'hypertrm.exe'. If not found, go to Start/Settings/ Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs and choose Windows Setup. Highlight 'Communications' and click on Details. Check the box beside Hyper Terminal then click OK twice and follow any instructions to install it. 2. Set up a session in Hyper Terminal to use an available COM port (usually 1) at 9600 baud. 3. Once connected, click on the 'Receive' button; specify the destination folder on your PC; and choose 'Xmodem' protocol. DO NOT click Receive at this time. ---- 4. On the HP 48, quit the QuickMap 3D program by going to the Main Menu and pressing END. 5. Press Shift Right (green) and the number 1. Highlight 'Transfer...' and hit OK. 6. Highlight 'TYPE', press 'CHOOS' and select XModem. Make sure that BAUD=9600. 7. Highlight 'NAME' and press 'CHOOS'. Highlight the name of the data file you want to archive and press the 'CHK' key. *** ONLY ONE FILE AT A TIME *** 8. Press OK and you should see the file name listed. Press the 'XSEN' key. ---- 9. On the PC, click on Receive and type in the filename exactly like it is on the HP 48. Click OK. 10. Wait for the transfer to take place - it may take several retries. If you receive an error message, check all connections and settings and try it again. 11. Repeat the steps to send over as many data files as you wish. Lastly, you must transfer over the 'QMdir' file from the HP 48. Store all data files with the corresponding QMdir file in a unique folder on your PC. UPLOADING QM3D FILES FROM THE PC TO THE HP 48 --------------------------------------------- 1. On the PC, start Hyper Terminal using the available COM port at 9600 baud. 2. Click the 'SEND' button; choose the file you want to transfer and Xmodem protocol. DO NOT press 'Send' at this time. ---- 3. On the HP 48, make sure all QM3D data files have been downloaded to Data Pac. If they have not, do that now and restart at number 1 above. 4. Press and hold down the ON, A and F keys. Choose 'NO' to recover memory. 5. Press Shift Right (green) and the number 1. Highlight 'Transfer...' and hit OK. 6. Highlight 'TYPE', press 'CHOOS' and select XModem. Make sure that BAUD=9600. 7. Highlight 'NAME' and key in the filename exactly as it appears on the PC. Press OK. *** ONLY ONE FILE AT A TIME *** 8. Press the 'XRECV' key. ---- 9. On the PC, hit 'SEND'. 10. Wait for the transfer to take place - it may take several retries. If you receive an error message, check all connections and settings and try it again. 11. Repeat the steps to send over as many data files as you wish. Lastly, you must transfer over the 'QMdir' file to the HP 48. Every data file you send must have been originally associated with this QMdir file or they won't be useable. 12. You can now start the QM3D program and add to these files as you would typically map a scene. It is very important to use the exact same locations for your control points, or the data won't match up.
